Blood Tests While on Hormonal Treatment
Yes, you do not need to stop your hormonal treatment before your blood draw.
This applies to:
Combined or progestogen-only contraceptive pills (OCP);
Hormonal patches, rings, or implants;
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT);
Prescribed estrogen or progesterone treatments.
Do not stop your treatment before the test
Never stop a prescribed treatment without discussing it first with your doctor.
Stopping hormonal treatment before a blood test is not necessary and could be harmful if done without medical supervision.
How Lucis interprets your results
Lucis will interpret your results in the context of your treatment. This is actually useful: tracking your biomarkers over time while on a stable treatment gives you a meaningful baseline and helps detect any changes.
A note on sex hormones (estradiol, progesterone, LH, FSH)
If your panel includes sex hormones such as estradiol, progesterone, LH, or FSH, the timing of your test within your cycle matters more than whether you are on treatment.
If you are unsure about your specific treatment
If you have questions about how your treatment may affect your results, consult your doctor before your appointment.
Lucis does not provide guidance on stopping, adjusting, or modifying any prescribed treatment.
