Below is a step-by-step guide explaining exactly what to do on the day of your appointment, from waking up to your lab visit.
Upon waking up (appointment day)
Step 1: Collect saliva T0
Immediately after waking up, remain lying down;
Collect saliva in the T0 tube;
Quantity: approximately one teaspoon;
Close the tube tightly;
Store in the refrigerator (do not freeze).
Important:
Do not drink, eat, brush your teeth, exercise, or smoke;
Do not include blood or mucus in the saliva sample.
Step 2: Start a 30-minute timer
Set a timer for 30 minutes;
During this time, you may move normally;
Avoid putting anything in your mouth.
Do not:
Drink or eat;
Brush your teeth;
Exercise;
Smoke.
Step 3: Collect urine sample
Collect a mid-stream urine sample only;
Quantity: approximately three-quarters of the container;
Wash your hands and clean the genital area using water only;
Close the container tightly;
Store in the refrigerator (do not freeze).
Important:
Do not collect the beginning or end of the urine stream;
Only collect the middle portion.
After 30 minutes: Step 4: Collect saliva T30
Exactly 30 minutes after the first saliva sample, collect saliva in the T30 tube;
Quantity: approximately one teaspoon;
Close the tube tightly;
Store in the refrigerator (do not freeze).
Important:
Do not drink, eat, brush your teeth, exercise, or smoke;
Do not include blood or mucus in the saliva sample.
Visiting the laboratory
Keep all samples refrigerated until departure (maximum 2 hours after collection);
Bring:
The three collection tubes;
Your lab appointment confirmation on your phone;
A valid ID;
Go directly to the reception desk without waiting in line.
If you feel unwell during or after the blood draw, inform the medical staff immediately.
After the blood draw:
Take a short break before leaving the laboratory;
Avoid intense physical activity for the rest of the day;
Eat a light snack if needed.
