How to prepare for the microbiome test?

Should I Stop Taking Probiotics Before My Microbiome Test?

Yes. We recommend pausing probiotic supplements 48 to 72 hours before your sample collection.

Probiotics can temporarily influence the composition of your gut microbiome. Stopping them for a short period before the test helps ensure more accurate and reliable results that better reflect your baseline gut microbiota.

You can resume taking probiotics after your sample has been collected.

Handling your kit

  • Store the kit in a cool place, away from direct sunlight, and use it within 12 months of receiving it;

  • Activate your sample in the Lucis app before sending it; a sample sent without activation cannot be processed;

  • Post your sample within 3 days of collection, using the prepaid envelope, to keep the results reliable.

When to postpone your sample collection

  • Wait at least 4 weeks after finishing a course of antibiotics before you collect your sample. Antibiotics temporarily change the balance of your gut bacteria, so a sample taken too soon will not reflect your usual microbiome.

  • If you have a digestive illness such as diarrhoea, vomiting, or food poisoning, do not collect your sample. Wait until 2 weeks after your symptoms have fully stopped.
