What’s the process for the at-home microbiome test?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Here’s how the microbiome test works:

1) First, you get the kit at home. It comes with everything: a swab, a small tube with liquid to keep the sample stable, and a prepaid envelope to send it back.

2) You take a small stool sample — super simple and quick. No need to refrigerate it, the liquid in the tube does the job.

3) Then you drop it in a mailbox. Shipping is already paid for.

4) Once the lab receives it, they run a 16S rRNA sequencing to analyze your gut bacteria — looking at diversity, balance, and how your microbiome might impact digestion, inflammation, and other functions.

5) About 2–3 weeks later, you get a detailed report: overall gut score, which bacteria were found, and food/lifestyle tips based on your results.
